Gonobidya Niketon (High School) ((ベンガル語:গণবিদ্যা নিকেতন (উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়))), also known as Gonobidya Niketon (its name up to 2005), is a secondary educational institution in Bangladesh established in 1974. Although the school was set up to cater for the need of the children of surrounding areas, students come from all parts of Narayanganj. In the SSC examination of 2012, it became one of the most successful schools in the country in terms of total number of students achieving GPA 5. In 2011 it also achieved remarkable percentage of both G.P.A 5 and passing rate. The main campus of Gonobidya Niketon is located in the heart of Narayanganj Sadar. ==History== The school was founded on March 15, 1974. The students from the school participated in S.S.C. (Secondary School Certificate) Examination (O-level equivalent) for the first time in 1975. During the first 23 years the school kept its growth as a boys high school for Day shift only. Following the demand and the requests from the guardians a morning shift for the female students was added in 1997. To make room for more students the administration established one new building on the occasion of the 20th anniversary in 1995.
